How much does a business valuation cost?

1.5 min read.

The cost of a business valuation can vary depending on the size and complexity of your business, as well as the purpose of the valuation.

It’s important to consider the purpose of the valuation. We offer three levels of valuations, depending on the requirement for the extent of the analysis.

For example, if the valuation is for selling a business, income tax or estate planning, it will typically include a detailed analysis of the company’s financials and a projection of future income, market conditions and competition. In this case, the least extensive type of valuation may be required.

If the valuation is for litigation, including a divorce or a shareholder dispute, it may also require a comprehensive review of the company’s financial and corporate records. Depending on the disputes, one or a few key issues may require extensive investigations such as unreported cash sales, or personal and non-business expenses being put through the company or that the valuation will be used in court. A comprehensive valuation may be required for these situations.

Typically, our basic valuation for a small business can start from $4,000, while a more complex valuation or valuations for large businesses require significantly more analyses and therefore cost more. It depends on the stage of a client’s exit and their specific needs, a full valuation may not be needed. We can perform other value advisory that that is quicker and more cost effective to assist clients.

It’s best to consult with a business valuation professional to discuss your specific needs and get a more accurate quote. Reach out to us today to receive a quick and precise fee quote, as well as our process and timeline to get your valuation done.
